Our Work
Community is our why. Science informs our how.
Our strategy for helping all families thrive is grounded in the Urban Institute’s comprehensive Upward Mobility Framework.
We recognize that poverty is a systemic challenge that requires community-level solutions. This evidence-based frameworkhelpsus focus our effortswhere theywill have thegreatest impact.
The Upward Mobility Framework has been validated with scholars, practitioners, and people with lived experience of poverty. In alignment with Connect Casino Road’s values, it champions racial equity and identifies factors that increase economic thriving for all people, especially those historically excluded from prosperity
Three-dimensional impact.
We embrace the Urban Institute’s holistic definition of upward mobility, including three related components, in everything we do.

Dignity and Belonging
All Casino Road families feel welcome, healthy, and connected—this neighborhood is their community.

Power and Autonomy
All families can access the resources they need regardless of cultural background. Casino Road residents confidently use their voices to advocate for themselves and participate in decisions affecting their neighborhood.

Economic Success
Casino Road families are exiting poverty, thriving economically, and creating generational wealth.

Creating a Community of Care
As we pursue upward mobility for all Casino Road families, we are building a community of care that draws on the best research about how to support families and communities impacted by poverty.
Trauma-Informed Practices: Many families in our community have experienced trauma from migration, poverty, or other challenging life circumstances. Trauma-Informed Practices draw on neuroscience to help us approach families with care and support healing from the intergenerational effects of trauma.
Two-Generation Approaches: We use a two-generation (2Gen) approach that focuses on building the well-being of both caregivers and children, together. Research shows that working with the entire family is more likely to achieve long-term impact, reducing poverty and increasing prosperity for generations to come.
